Sports massage Therapist gets hands-on as sponsor

Sports Massage Therapist Phil Barratt is the next person to come on board both as a sponsor and as part of Mo’s bench team for the testimonial game.

Phil was a regular fixture on the Bison Bench for the past two seasons (and for two seasons prior to that with the Slough Jets) and is delighted to be involved.  He said ‘Having worked alongside Mo for 4 of the last 5 seasons, and knowing a few of the guys that Mo has playing, I jumped at the chance to get involved.  I’m sure it’ll be a great night.’

Phil offers Sports Massage treatments from his treatment room at Worting House, and is offering a generous first time discount for new clients attending the testimonial game… Although you’ll need to buy a copy of the souvenir program for the full details.

Mo adds… “I have worked with Phil for a number of years and would highly recommend him for injury care and helping fix my often-broken body”

For more information about the treatments Phil offers visit his website : http://bstokemassage.co.uk

As part of the sponsorship package, Phil is delighted to be sponsoring Chris Wiggins.  There’s still time to get involved as a sponsor, CLICK HERE for details.

Solid as Oak

Sam Oakford is the latest addition to Mo’s team for the game on 25th August.

The Defenceman, 22, from Ascot has iced for Bracknell and Basingstoke in the EPL whilst also representing his country with GB callus at U18 and U20 level.

Sam is building a strong reputation as a shutdown defenceman and exhibits maturity and great decision-making in game situations.

Mo had this to say about his latest invitee:

‘When I first noticed Sam playing for Bracknell, it was obvious that he would develop into an excellent defenceman.

The game seemed easy for him, as he would always choose the best option on the ice.

I believe that Sam will go onto great things both on the ice and off the ice. Oaky represents the youth of the Mo19 team as we are already packed with years of experience!’

Cooper wings in for Mo

The latest addition to the Mo’s invitational side on August 25th is British Ice Hockey legend Ian Cooper.

With 80 games for Team GB in his career, including playing in Pool A against the best in the World, Cooper’s career has been littered with success.

The Durham-born Winger built a reputation for scoring the tough goals in the battlefield located directly in front of opposition Goalies.

One of the most decorated players ever to play the game, he can boast five consecutive League and Playoff Championship campaigns with the all-conquering Cardiff Devils and Durham Wasps of the Heineken era.

Twelve consecutive World championship campaigns and induction into the British Ice hockey Hall of Fame ice the cake on a tremendous career.

When asked about ‘Coops’ Mo had this to say:

‘There is no doubt in my mind that Ian Cooper was one of the best wingers that I have played with. His style of play complimented my game and allowed me to do what I do best. He was the perfect power forward, working the corners and going to the front of the net.

His decision making on the puck was excellent and he shot the puck well, His dedication and commitment was unquestionably first rate. I am extremely happy that Ian will be flying over from his home in Marbella to be a part of my retirement game.”

Big Chris Joins the Mocat

The pace is quickening for the Steve Moria Testimonial game and Mo is delighted to announce his latest signing; towering Chris Wiggins.

Standing at 6’ 6” and tipping the scales at 225lbs, the talented 24 year old Guildford-born forward is a fierce opponent and will line up alongside his former Player / Coach on August 25th to take on the Bison side.

Right from day one Mo knew he wanted ‘Wiggy’ on his side in the EPL and he will make a great addition to the Mo 19 side. Says Moria:

When I first saw Chris play, I knew that he had to be on my team. He is a ferocious hitter, definitely one of the best that I have played with.

Every game, opposition defencemen were being crushed by Wiggy. I still feel that Chris has masses of potential and will further develop his game.

For a big man, he has very good skill and I expect to see him become an offensive force.

Wiggins’s ability as a power forward has drawn interest from every level of British Ice Hockey and whilst renowned for his physical game, he scored almost 2 points per game at international level for the GB U19 side.

Steve’s keen on Dean

On a bumper weekend of signings, with Steve Moria’s  Testimonial game moving ever closer, Mo is delighted to welcome Dean Skinns into his team for the game on August 25th.

The Basingstoke born-and-bred netminder will take his place between the pipes as he has so many times for Steve before.

Dean first linked with Mo when coaching the Bison in the 2003-4 season, backing up Steve’s teams on numerous occassions in the Elite League.

When Steve took over at the Slough Jets, he didn’t hesitate to bring Dean in as his goalie, rewarded with a play-off championship.

Once again, the pair would come together at the Basingstoke Bison, teaming up for the start of Steve’s final season.

Steve didn’t hesitate to make Dean one of his invites.

“I am extremely happy to have Dean join me to play in my last game. He has been a great teammate and a guy who loves the sport.

“In the playoff championship season with Slough, he proved to be a goalie who could deliver solid netminding in critical playoff games. In my mind he was the best keeper in the EPL that season.”

We’ll have another signing tomorrow morning, as the names come thick and fast.

Remember, you can buy your tickets right now for the game on Saturday 25th August from the Basingstoke Arena Box Office on 01256 355266.
